10 tips that will up your Easter egg decorating game

Looking for ideas to make your egg decorating game stronger?  We’ve come up with 10 easy ways to take your decorating skills to the next level.

Check out these easy tips that are just to dye for!

1. Looking for a long term rel-egg-tionship? Try blowing out your eggs versus hard-cooking them. Hard-cooked eggs will eventually spoil, but by blowing them out, you are able to keep the eggs for years to come!

2. If you do decide to try blowing out eggs, make sure you clean the eggs first. You’ll be putting your mouth on the shell, so it’s good to get rid of any possible bacteria that may be there. You should also use a toothpick or needle to pierce the yolk; this will make it easier to get it out of the shell.

3. Make your own egg dye! Use food colouring mixed with water and vinegar to make whatever colours you want! All it takes is red, yellow and blue food colour.

4. Leaving your egg in the dye for longer will result in a more vibrant coloured egg. Try leaving them in for 3, 5 and 10 minutes to get different shades of the colour!

5. Go for the tie-dyed effect!  In a colander, cover your egg with vinegar, then slowly put a few drops of food colouring on your egg. Swirl it around until you get the coverage you like, then let it dry. Once it has dried, start with a second colour. Do this with as many colours as you like!

6. Use elastics to add another dimension of decoration to your egg. The elastic will protect the egg from the dye, so once the egg has dried, remove the elastic to see your new striped creation!

7. Take your egg to the next level by adding more decorations like stickers, glitter, or paint. Even temporary tattoos will stick to your egg!

8. Give your egg a little razzle-dazzle! Dying your egg and covering it in sparkles can give it a two-toned look that is sure to impress!

9. After all the work that went in to decorating your eggs, don’t just show them off all willy-nilly in a regular carton. Add some flare to your egg carton by painting or applying stickers to it. Really show off those eggs in style!

10. Try hanging them around the house! This can only be done with eggs that have been blown out. Use a string to hand them in windows or in centerpieces. You won’t be able to help but notice their beauty.
