Fancy French Toast - the Perfect Way to Impress Guests

Want to know how restaurants make French toast? Chef John Mitzewich (blogger for About.com's American Food and Foodwishes, a video recipe blog) has shared a restaurant-style recipe and video for Fancy French Toast which I'm passing on just in time for holiday brunches and entertaining. With Chef John's method, you let day-old slices of bread soak in a spiced beaten egg and milk mixture for 30 to 60 minutes......then brown the slices in butter in a frying pan......then finish them off by baking the slices in the oven. It might be a little extra time and a small amount of extra effort, but the result - French toast with a soft custardy-textured centre and a beautifully browned crisp exterior - is well worth the effort! Don't forget the maple syrup!
