September 8, 2014 – Egg Farmers of Ontario (EFO) and Food Day Canada are partnering to hold the first Food Day Canada Chefs’ Forum “The Future of Canadian Food: Opportunities and Challenges”, an exciting culinary event that is part of the University of Guelph’s Good Food Innovation Awards.
Open to the public, the forum on Sept. 29 at the University of Guelph will showcase how some of Canada’s most celebrated Chefs and Restaurateurs embrace and nurture their local food systems. On the podium will be Sinclair and Frederique Philip of Sooke Harbour House, Vancouver Island, B.C.; Chef/Sommelier Mark Filatow of Waterfront Wine, Kelowna; Executive Chef Roary MacPherson of Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland, St. John’s; Chef/Owners Charles Part and Jennifer Warren-Part, Les Fougères, Chelsea, Québec and Executive Chef Pierre-Olivier Ferry of Les Jardins de Métis, Grand-Métis, Québec.
The winning menus of the Innovation Awards were judged on Canadian content and creativity, innovation in the use of ingredients and sustainability in the choice of those ingredients.
“We are egg-cited with the opportunity to once again partner with Food Day Canada and hope to make the forum a Grade A event,” quipped Scott Graham, EFO chair and himself an egg farmer from St. Marys. “Who better to ask about preserving Canada’s farmland and it’s farming community that those who’ve been immersed in the use of the finest local ingredients for decades?”
“Egg Farmers of Ontario have been on the cutting edge of imaginative marketing for decades including the most recent campaign, ‘Who Made Your Eggs Today?’” added Anita Stewart, Food Day Canada founder. “They understand that the eggs they produce are more than a commodity, they are ingredients that find their way onto the menus of every great restaurant in Canada be it from the finest sauces to any number of spectacular desserts.

Egg Farmers of Ontario is the marketing organization for the 430 egg farmers and pullet growers in Ontario who account for 40% of total egg production in Canada, or 200 million dozen eggs annually.
