It’s that time of year again! Pull out your fall decorations, or make some of your own to celebrate the season of warm drinks and crisp cool weather. This craft will save you a trip to the recycling bin and provide a beautiful fall sight for all to see!
What you need:
- 2 or 3 egg cartons
- 1 medium-sized paint brush
- Craft paint (fall colours: orange, yellow, red, blue, white, brown, green)
- Cardboard
- Hot glue or thick white glue
- Scissors
Step 1: Prepare the base!
Cut the cardboard into a circle for the base of the wreath. You can use the large plate for the outside cut and a yogurt container lid for the inner circle cut. The diameter of the outer cut should be about 8” in diameter. Once cut, paint the base in brown and let it fully dry.
Step 2: Prepare the flowers!
Cut flower shapes using the egg carton bottom sections. Using the top of the egg carton, cut flat shapes such as leaves. Use the carton peaks in between the bottom sections to make tall flower pieces. Please keep in mind, it is best to have an adult or older child help with this step.
Step 3: Paint the flowers!
Now that all your pieces have been cut, you’re ready to paint. Paint the flowers and leaves with the colours of your choice and let them fully dry.
Step 4: Glue!
Arrange the flowers and leaves around the wreath base until you are happy with the design. It is best when the leaves are at the edges of the wreath (inner edge or outer edge), as well as under some of the flowers.
Once the glue is completely dry, find the perfect place to hang your wreath such as on the door or above the fireplace!
