Try this eggshell mosaic project with your class if you’re feeling like trying something new and unique this year! Using recycled eggshell pieces, a little paint, glue, and a canvas – this project is sure to inspire creativity in your students!
What you need:
- Eggshells
- Canvas (or cardboard/construction paper)
- Paint
- Glue
- Mod Podge (or any acrylic sealer)
Step 1: Paint
Start by painting your eggshells using diluted paint and water. If following the image example, you can paint them in green, blue, and brown. Allow them to dry completely.
Step 2: Prepare
Your students will prepare the base for their eggshell mosaic by painting their canvas. We recommend sticking to neutral colors so the mosaic can really pop.
Step 3: Assemble
After the eggshells have fully dried, crush them into small pieces. Begin assembling the image onto your base material (canvas, cardboard, or construction paper). Once the final design is good to go, use glue to secure the eggshell mosaic in place. Set aside a full period for this process as it takes time.
Step 4: Protect
After the glue has fully dried, protect the mosaic with an acrylic sealer (either painted or spray). This will seal the project for long-lasting results!
