Egg Farmers of Ontario are at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

November 8th, 2010

We’re at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto this week. The Fair opened last week in the National Trade Centre. It’s been a bustling place filled with the sights, sounds and smells of agricultural.

Egg Farmers of Ontario has two displays at the Fair. We share the Egg Education Centre with one of Ontario’s egg grading stations – Burnbrae Farms. At this display you can talk to an egg farmer, see hens laying eggs, find out how many eggs (and which sizes) a hen lays in a  year, learn how strong eggs are, see some baby chicks, and lots more! The second display is in the Journey to Your Good Health area just down the aisle from the Egg Education Centre. There we’re handing out recipes and nutrition information and selling our famous microwave egg cookers. This Saturday at 12:30 p.m. egg farmer Dianne and I will be doing a presentation on the Journey to Your Good Health stage. We’ll be sharing lots of information about eggs like how to tell if eggs are fresh and our recommended technique for hard-boiling eggs, and giving out samples of Dianne’s delicious Coconut Walnut Squares.  Come see us at the Fair!
