Egg Farmers of Ontario commemorates coronation with egg donation

May 9th, 2023

Mississauga, May 6, 2023 – Egg Farmers of Ontario (EFO) is commemorating the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla by donating over 22,000 eggs to Feed Ontario, for distribution to member food banks across Ontario.

Since the Canadian Confederation was signed in 1867 to form the Dominion of Canada, with then reigning Queen Victoria becoming our sovereign, EFO will be donating the monetary value of 1867 dozen eggs to Feed Ontario.

“With Canada being a constitutional monarchy, today His Majesty King Charles III officially becomes the Head of State for our country,” said Scott Helps, EFO Chair. “As such, we wanted to find a meaningful way to mark this momentous occasion and felt that sharing fresh, high-quality eggs through our partnership with Feed Ontario was a positive way to help Ontario communities enjoy this historic moment.”

The King and Queen are well known for their patronage of family and youth organizations. To pay tribute to these efforts, nutritious eggs will be available to families across Ontario in their honour through Feed Ontario. Thanks to the Feed Ontario Egg Donation Program, more than 537,000 adults, children and seniors are reached each year.

Egg Farmers of Ontario would like to extend congratulations to His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla as they embark on this new phase of the monarchy.
