Let your creativity blossom with our easy egg carton flowers!

With spring just around the corner, it’s time to give your house a pop of colour that will bring in the new season.

Round up your little sprouts to craft these egg carton flowers to welcome spring back into your home!

What you’ll need:

  • 12” x 16” canvas
  • Egg carton
  • Scissors
  • Paint (we used pink and yellow for the flowers and turquoise for the backdrop, but you can use whatever colours you like!)
  • Paint brush
  • Buttons (we used white, but colourful ones work too)
  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Ribbon
  • Glue (we used hot glue, but craft glue would also work)

Start by painting the canvas using the turquoise paint. Give the canvas a generous two or three coats as the paint may absorb into the canvas. More coats will give a more vibrant colour!

While the canvas is drying, cut up your egg carton. The cups will be your flowers, so you can use as many as you want (we used 9, but more may be better)! You will want to round the tops of the sides to make the cups look a bit more ‘flower’-like.

Paint your ‘flowers’ the colours of your choice! (Hint: you can use any extra carton cups as paint holder!) We did three colours: pink, yellow, and we mixed the two together to make an orange as well.

Just like the canvas, the more coats of paint you use, the more vibrant your carton flowers will be, so paint, paint and paint some more!

Once everything is painted and dry, glue the buttons to the inside of your flowers. We used a hot glue gun, but craft glue also works well.

When the buttons have been glued and the glue has dried, arrange the flowers on the top third of the canvas until you have a placement you like.

Bunch 5 or 6 green pipe cleaners together for the stems, and place them at the bottom of the flowers. Cut the pipe cleaners so they fit on the canvas.

When you have a length that you like, take your ribbon and wrap a bow around the pipe cleaners.

Now glue everything down!

You’re done!

Place this bright bouquet of flowers (that will never die!) in your house and get ready for spring!
