Mississauga, Tuesday, October 26, 2021 – Egg Farmers of Ontario (EFO) announced today a three-year partnership with Tyler McGregor, Captain of Hockey Canada’s National Sledge Hockey Team, positioning eggs as the Official Breakfast Protein of Tyler McGregor.

Tyler is not only known as a world-class athlete, but is also considered a community leader and role model for young athletes. At the age of 15, following a leg injury obtained while playing AAA hockey, Tyler received the difficult news that he had Spindle Cell Sarcoma, the same type of cancer as Canadian hero Terry Fox. To save his life, Tyler had to have his leg amputated.

Despite this obstacle, Tyler changed direction and found a new way to compete on the ice through sledge hockey. His passion for the game directed his focus and with a lot of hard work and determination, he has become an incredible athlete and inspiration to many.

“Egg Farmers of Ontario considers it a privilege to support Tyler McGregor,” said Scott Helps, EFO Chair. “Not only is he a remarkable athlete, but he is also someone who represents the same values as our farmers – he understands that  hard work, dedication and a passion for what you do will lead to great things.”

Tyler began playing sledge hockey in 2011 and made the Canadian men's para ice hockey team in 2012. In his international debut at the age of 18, he recorded a goal and two assists to help Team Canada win a silver medal at the 2012 World Sledge Hockey Challenge.

As a member of Team Canada at the 2017 World Para Ice Hockey Championships, McGregor recorded 12 goals to tie as the tournament leader and win a gold medal.

Heading into 2022 Tyler and the rest of team Canada have their eyes set on the world's stage this coming February.
