White and brown eggs have essentially the same nutritional value. The main difference comes from the breed of hen that lays the egg.
White eggs usually come from white-feathered hens, such as White Leghorns. Brown eggs typically come from larger brown breeds, such as Rhode Island Reds.
Why Do Brown Eggs Cost More?
Brown-egg hens tend to be larger than hens that lay white eggs. Because of their larger size, they generally eat more feed. This can contribute to the higher price of brown eggs at the grocery store.
The colour of the shell does not determine an egg’s nutrition, quality, or flavour. Both types can provide the same nutritious choice for your meals.
